  1. Thankyou for these thorough and helpful reviews of language learning apps. I want to re-learn German as an adult, having studied at high school in the 1970’s – when the courses were based entirely on books with grammar and vocabulary, and a smattering of one-on-one conversation. Needless to say technology has transformed the possibilities so I decided to do a thorough review of the current options before settling on one, and that is how I found your site.
I am always cautious of a “Top ten apps for ….” site, and read closely before following their advice (or ignoring it). Many are quite shallow in their knowledge of both the apps and different types of user requirements. However a few such sites are invaluable, and this is the best I’ve encountered. After reading your top-level I started checking out your detailed review of each option and found that I can work out how my own requirements are met, and that I trust your detailed advice.
Your insight and enthusiasm for your subject is inspiring!
A most impressive web sites! Thanks!
ps. from my reading so far, I have dismissed Rosetta Stone, which I was leaning toward before reading your review and discovering it is entirely contrary to my background, and Speed Learning Languages will be my first choice unless one of the others can supplant it.
